The importance of our operators cannot be overstated. They serve as the backbone of the monitoring station and the vital link between those being protected and the responders that ensure that protection. At Cen-Signal we take pride in our operators and work diligently to ensure that they are provided with sufficient training and are prepared to deal with dealers and customers alike in a manner that reflects this. All potential applicants are tested for drugs and alcohol as well as submitting to a criminal background check before they can be cleared to begin our rigorous training program. Once an applicant is accepted, they begin their journey towards being a Cen-Signal operator. The first step involves a period of orientation and study in a classroom setting. It is during this time that the applicants are introduced to the concepts of the industry, Cen-Signal’s place in that industry, as well as their relationship to the dealers and customers that depend on us and, as an extension, them. The applicants are familiarized with the procedures and equipment that they will be utilizing to perform their jobs. A combination of simulated responses and a functional version of the Manitou operating system are integrated into the classroom portion of the training. As the operators prove successfully more adept at these training exercises they are eventually introduced to the central itself. It is here where they will, under the watchful eye of certified and experienced operators, be given a chance for hands on training. This hands on time focuses on improving the applicants’ response speed, professionalism and ability to integrate what they have learned thus far. Only after an applicant has mastered the skills necessary to the job are they considered a Cen-Signal operator.
